The hairbrush and comb, essential anti-tangle accessories

Choosing your hairbrush or comb may seem trivial, and yet these accessories make all the difference in taking care of your hair from root to tip.

Indeed, they make it possible to detangle the hair and put an end to the knots, to distribute the sebum on the lengths in order to protect them and to stimulate the scalp, which boosts the growth.

As you can see, everyone benefits from the advantages of brushes and combs!

Hair Accessories

Curly, frizzy, fine, thick hair, for women or for men... everyone has their own hairbrush!

Although detangling is essential for everyone, the choice of brush or comb is not so universal. Indeed, as for your other organic and natural hair care, we choose it and use it differently according to your hair type.

Do you have straight hair? We recommend that you brush them once or twice a day. This allows the sebum to be distributed over the lengths, thus avoiding overly oily roots and nourishing the rest of the hair. Moreover, it avoids the formation of knots until the next shampoo, in addition to bringing a nice movement.

If you have textured hair (wavy, curly, frizzy, coily), we recommend that you brush it only before your shampoo, or during the application of your favorite organic conditioner or your detangling mask. Indeed, when detangling textured hair "dry", waves and curls lose all their definition, thus bringing a "puffed up" finish to the hair that most seek to avoid.

For wavy to curly hair, opt for a wide-tooth comb to gently detangle your waves and curls without breaking them.

Regarding curly to coily hair, afro comb is your best ally to overcome knots without pulling too much on your scalp.

To bring volume to fine hair, there's nothing like a very tight-toothed comb. Indeed, this type of comb makes it possible to separate the hair from each other in a precise way, to obtain airy hair with a denser appearance. In addition, let yourself be tempted by the stimulating brush for scalp, to be used during shampoo to perfect the cleaning of the scalp and to loosen the roots for an immediate volumizing effect.

We all know it can be tedious to detangle thick hair. Bet on a dedicated brush for this thickness, such as that of John Masters Organics brand, with ultra-soft bristles for express and painless detangling.

Do men need a different hairbrush or comb? The answer is no ! Neither hair accessories nor hair are gendered, so refer to our advice above to make the most suitable choice. Moreover, whether you have short or long hair, the recommendations remain the same.

Wood, bamboo or boar bristles: the different natural brush materials

Are natural wood or boar bristle brushes really better than the others? What are their advantages?

Wooden hairbrushes (bamboo, ash, etc.) help limit breakage during detangling. Indeed, the spikes are rounded and then pass easily between the hair strands. In addition, this form massages the scalp and therefore promotes growth. Finally, wooden brushes are intuitive to use and are more ecological than plastic brushes. Are you tempted? Discover the hair accessories brand TEK, specialist in high quality wooden brushes and combs.

Boar bristles, found in the John Masters Organics thick hair brush, are enriched with keratin, the same substance as our hair. As a result, they have an excellent affinity with the hair fiber, thus allowing better distribution of sebum over the lengths but also guaranteeing maximum shine and softness!

Clean and wash your detangling brush

Cleaning your brush or comb is essential because if you don't wash them, bacteria, dust and sebum will accumulate and end up on your hair each time you brush. To avoid this, here's how to take care of it.

After each use, remove your hair using your fingers. This is called dry cleaning.

Twice a month, do a thorough cleaning. To do this, simply clean your brush or comb with a mild shampoo, a toothbrush, and clear lukewarm water. Rinse, then let your brush dry, pins down so that water does not infiltrate.

Be careful, do not immerse your wooden brushes or combs in a basin of water for long minutes as is sometimes recommended, at the risk of seeing the wood decompose little by little.

Other accessories to take care of your hair

Besides hairbrushes and combs, there are also other accessories that complement your hair routine.

Find in particular hair towels in 100% cotton or bamboo fibers to significantly reduce drying time and which have the particularity of never slipping from your head thanks to their handle.

Essential accessory to refresh the curls, we also offer you a water spray with a fine and continuous mist!
