Self care : My spa at home with MonCornerB
Stress, tiredness, bad mood ... we all need from time to time a little interlude in our busy weeks, to focus on ourselves and pamper yourself.
At MonCornerB we are committed to self care: beyond the fact of taking care of your skin naturally we are convinced of the importance of taking time for yourself, and of the benefits of beauty ritual on our physical and emotional well-being.
So, what if we had a spa session at home? Follow the guide to give yourself a well-deserved moment!
Step 1: I put myself in “self care” mode
Before even starting your ritual, you create an atmosphere conducive to well-being and to relaxation: you isolate yourself in a quiet room, you light a scented candle, put on your favorite pajamas, put some zen music in the background… #selflove mode activated!
Step 2: I cleanse my face with a makeup remover balm
Whether you wear makeup or not, the cleansing balm is our ally to clean the skin gently before applying its care, and its melting and comforting texture is a pure happiness for the senses !
How to apply my cleansing balm?
We take a good dab of balm which we first heat in our hands to activate it. Then we place our 2 hands around the nose and we take a deep breath to soak up the fragrance, then we breathe out for a long time.
We massage the balm on dry skin in circular movements of inside towards the outside of the face, starting from the neck and going up to the forehead (this is the opportunity to make a relaxing self massage !). Finally, we rinse it off with a muslin soaked in warm water, which is left on the face for a few seconds before wiping it off.
The MCB tip: For an intense nourishing and repairing care, leave your balm on for around ten minutes as a mask, ideal for dry, tight skin.
Step 3: I am getting a steam bath, or facial sauna
Easy to do, this ritual allows to decongest and purify the skin in depth, boost blood circulation and the radiance of the complexion , thanks to the benefits of hot steam. It's also an ultra relaxing moment!
How to make a steam bath for the face?
We boil water and pour it into a large bowl, tilt our face over it while keeping our eyes closed (not too close so as not to burn ourselves), and cover our head with a towel to prevent steam from escaping. We wait 5 to 10 minutes.
To increase the benefits of the steam bath, you can add a few drops of essential oil (lavender, tea tree), aromatic plants (mint, thyme, rosemary) or just tea.
The MCB tip: Steaming before using your face mask will unclog your pores and optimize the benefits of the care.
Step 4: I purify and exfoliate with a clay mask
After the steam bath, the ideal is to follow up with a good organic face mask. Nothing like a clay mask to deep cleanse and detoxify your skin once a week.
What are the benefits of clay?
Thanks to its adsorbent properties the clay extracts all impurities and toxins from the pores. It also has a slightly exfoliating action which will boost the effectiveness of the treatments applied thereafter. The result is clean skin and tight pores!
Let your mask sit 10 to 20 minutes, and be careful not to let the clay dry on the skin: the clay must remain moist to fully enjoy its benefits . Keep a mist not far from you, spray as soon as necessary to prevent the mask from drying out, or add honey, aloe vera, yogurt or a few drops of oil directly to the preparation.
The MCB tip: Rather than a clay mask "ready to go" opt for a powder mask, to activate with water or a hydrosol to form a paste just before applying it, in order to offer an ultra-fresh treatment. When rinsing, massage the skin in circular motions to exfoliate the dead cells.
Step 5: I hydrate my skin with a honey mask
Once the skin is cleansed and purified, we complete our ritual with a hydrating mask, based on honey..
What are the benefits of the honey mask?
At the same time moistening, antibacterial, healing, soothing… honey is a real super hero for our skin, whether it is acne, dry, dehydrated, sensitive or mature skin type.
Unlike the clay mask, the honey mask does not dry on the skin and can be left on for as long as desired. We spread it generously on our face before landing with a good book, in front of a film or a series, or in our bath.
No hydrating mask on hand? We make a homemade honey mask! Simply use good quality raw honey, or customize your honey mask with the ingredients of your choice: lemon juice to purify and lighten the complexion, turmeric for an anti-inflammatory action and good looks, Spirulina for a detox and anti-redness effect, yogurt to reinforce the moisturizing action… it's up to you!
The MCB tip: Moisten your skin beforehand with a mist to spread your honey mask more easily on the skin.
Step 6: I massage my skin with an organic face oil
The mask session is over, we finish our face care ritual by massaging an oil on our skin.
Suitable for all skin types (if you choose it well), face oil is a real beauty ally that seals hydration, regenerates and balances the skin, and allows you to offer a facial massage.
How to properly apply an organic face oil?
The oil is applied to slightly damp skin for better penetration.
After rinsing off your mask, spray on a hydrating mist all over the face (and you can apply a serum if necessary).
We put a few drops of oil in the palm of the hand (3 drops are enough, it's a concentrated treatment) and we heat it to activate it by rubbing our hands together.
Then we applied it either by pressing the hands against the skin on the whole face and neck for 30 seconds, or by massaging its skin for a few minutes with the fingers, smoothing movements s from the inside to the outside of the face, and repeating each gesture several times.
The MCB tip: For a relaxing effect draw circles around the eyes with the tip of the index finger, then massage your temples for a few moments. All our tips for massaging your skin are to be found here
Gua sha ou roller : mon massage anti-âge
The must to massage like a pro is to use a gua sha or a roller. In jade, rose quartz, amethyst or aventurine, this beauty ritual from Asia offers a facial massage anti-aging, to decongest, smooth the features and wake up the glow of your skin. Ideal for good lymphatic drainage and for followers of facial yoga !
Gua sha or jade roll on, which one to choose?
The roll-on has the advantage of being easier to use, compared to the gua sha massage which is more technical. Just gently roll it over each area of the face, from the center outwards and from the bottom up, repeating each movement 3 times. The smallest tip is reserved for the eye area.
The gua sha massage requires familiarization with the tool beforehand, but it offers an intense lifting and sculpting action. A user guide is provided with the gua sha to detail each movement, which is to be repeated 5/6 times by applying gentle pressure.
The MCB tip: Keep your gua sha or roll on in the fridge for a tenfold decongestant effect.
Step 8: What about the body?
Complete your session of spa at home with body care, which also deserves to be pampered.
I treat myself to a relaxing bath
We get a good hot bath, to be embellished with bath salts, bath oil, or simply a few drops of essential oil to relax.
The MCB tip: Keep your honey face mask during the bath to keep the skin well hydrated. The little extra? The heat of the water vapor activates the enzymes in the honey and boosts its efficiency.
No bathtub? Pour a few drops of essential oil in your shower before going in, or leave a bunch of eucalyptus hanging in the shower, to take advantage of its relaxing scent.
I make a nourishing body scrub
The scrub will eliminate dead cells to soften the skin, but also promote the penetration of treatments applied afterwards. Opt for a nourishing scrub rich in vegetable oils, which will leave a moisturizing film once you get out of the shower or bath, and will dispense with body cream!
The DIY option: Want to make a homemade scrub? Use coffee grounds for a draining and zero waste exfoliation, or a mixture of honey and oil sugar for a moisturizing and nourishing version.
The MCB tip: End your self care ritual with a roll on with essential oils, to be applied to the pulsation points (inside the wrists, temples, neck)
